Home EV Charger Installation — London & Kent

Charging your electric vehicle from a standard 3-pin socket is slow, inefficient, and puts unnecessary strain on your home's wiring. A dedicated home charge point charges your car up to 7× faster, costs less per mile, and is installed safely by a certified electrician in a single day.

DM Electrotechnical Services Ltd installs home EV charge points across London and Kent. We work with all major EV brands and charge point manufacturers. Finance available — Klarna and Clearpay. Call 07535 810812 for a free site survey and quote.

Why upgrade from a 3-pin socket?

Up to 7× faster charging

A 7kW home charger adds 25–30 miles of range per hour. A 3-pin socket adds 4–5 miles per hour. For most EV owners, an overnight charge via 3-pin is adequate — but not if you need a top-up quickly or have a larger battery.

Built for continuous load

Dedicated charge points use a tougher, weatherproof cable and socket designed for continuous high-current use. 3-pin sockets were not designed for this load and can overheat over time.

Save £200–£400 per year

Smart chargers allow you to schedule charging during off-peak electricity tariff hours — saving £200–£400 per year for average EV drivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does EV charger installation take?

Installation typically takes 2–4 hours depending on cable routing complexity. Most installations are completed in a single morning visit.

Do I need a new consumer unit to get an EV charger?

Not necessarily. We carry out a free assessment of your existing consumer unit as part of every quote. If your board has sufficient spare capacity, we can install a dedicated circuit without upgrading the board. If not, we will advise you — upgrading both at the same time saves time and reduces the total cost.

What EV charger brands do you install?

We install all major brands including Zappi, Ohme, Andersen, Pod Point, and EO. We are brand-neutral and will recommend the best charger for your property, tariff, and vehicle based on your requirements.

Can I get a grant for my home EV charger?

The OZEV Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) grant was closed to homeowners in April 2022. However, grants remain available for renters, flat owners, and some business installations. We will confirm current grant eligibility at your free site survey.
