Structured Cabling Installation — Cat5e, Cat6 & Fibre Optic
Reliable data cabling is as critical to a modern business as its power supply. DM Electrotechnical Services Ltd designs and installs structured cabling systems across London and Kent — Cat5e and Cat6 copper, fibre optic backbones, and the containment that keeps it all protected and serviceable.
Because we're electrical contractors first, your data and power are installed together, in coordinated containment, by one team — no clashes between trades, no finger-pointing when something doesn't work. Every outlet is tested and labelled before handover. Call 07535 810812.
What we install
From a handful of extra data points to a full office cabling infrastructure, we design and install to match your current needs and future growth.
Cat5e & Cat6 cabling
Copper data cabling for desks, WiFi access points, CCTV and VoIP — installed in proper containment and tested to standard.
Fibre optic links
Fibre backbones between buildings, floors and comms rooms where distance or bandwidth rules out copper.
Comms cabinets & patch panels
Wall and floor-standing cabinets, patch panels, and tidy, labelled patching that your IT support will thank you for.
Cable containment
Basket, tray, trunking and conduit — data segregated correctly from power to protect signal integrity.
WiFi & CCTV points
PoE cabling for wireless access points, IP cameras and door entry systems.
Moves, adds & changes
Extra outlets, desk moves and re-patching for offices that are growing or reorganising.
Our installation process
Walk-through or floor plan review — we agree outlet locations, cabinet position and cable routes.
Fixed quotation — itemised per outlet, with containment and testing included, not hidden extras.
Installation — routed through coordinated containment, out of hours if your office can't pause.
Testing and handover — every link tested, outlets labelled at both ends, and results documented.
Fitting out a new office? Combine your electrical and data packages into one contract — staged payments available, and finance on smaller works via Klarna and Clearpay.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I install Cat5e or Cat6?
For most new installations we recommend Cat6 — it supports 10 Gigabit over short runs and gigabit everywhere, for a modest cost difference over Cat5e. Cat5e still makes sense for adding points to an existing Cat5e system. We'll advise based on your network and budget.
Do you test and certify the cabling?
Yes. Every link is tested after installation, outlets are labelled at both the desk and patch panel end, and you receive documented results at handover — so faults can be traced in minutes, not hours.
Can you install data cabling in a live office?
Yes. We routinely install around working offices — containment and cable pulls out of hours, terminations and testing during the day. We'll agree the plan up front so your team is never without power or network when they need it.
Can you run cabling between buildings?
Yes — external grade copper or fibre optic links between buildings, installed in ducting or catenary as the site requires. For longer distances or higher bandwidth, fibre is usually the right answer and we'll quote both where it's borderline.
